First Look
The food was separated by sections.
There was a packing list in the box with everything I received.
Shaved Brussels I never ate Brussel sprouts until I was an adult. If made correctly, they taste wonderful. I love that these are already shaved, so I didn't have to cut them up to cook them. You can cook them in the pan with some salt/pepper or add a Hungryroot sauce with them.
Superblend Salad You can use this salad mix to make cole slaw, though I used it as a regular salad. My youngest is a rather picky eater, so I gave him his salad with ranch and he loved it. This made a healthy lunch easy this past week. The salad is a mix of Brussels Sprouts, Napa Cabbage, Kohlrabi, Broccoli, Carrots, and Kale.
Cauliflower Rice You can use cauliflower in replacement of regular rice. I used some to make a healthy taco bowl with ground turkey, and fat-free cheese. This is also great to make a healthy stir fry.
Broccoli Rice I wish I would've requested two bags of this broccoli rice. I had to go out of town so I requested the family have at least one healthy meal while I was gone. They used this broccoli rice for a meal and both of my boys loved it. You just need to cook this for 5-6 minutes until it's done.
Braised Lemongrass Tofu Nuggets I haven't had these nuggets yet, but I am hopeful my youngest son will enjoy them. A serving has 14 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber.
Cucumber, Corn, Black Bean Salad This salad is already ready to eat. It's a mix of Black Beans, Kidney Beans, Green Peppers, Cucumbers, Corn, Onions, Sunflower Oil, Olive Oil, Vinegar, Sea Salt, Parsley, Garlic, Citric Acid, and Black Pepper. I made this for a lunch with the veggie burger below.
Hearty Tofu Veggie Burger I have never been a big fan of tofu, though I like anything in burger form. This just took a couple of minutes in a pan to heat up.
This was my healthy lunch and it was very filling.
Whole Wheat Sprouted Flatbread I love a good breakfast burrito, so I made a healthy version with eggs, turkey sausage, and some salsa. This tortilla is made with wheat berries, quinoa, millet, and barley, but it tastes like a regular tortilla.
Cashew Cheddar Cheese is my biggest downfall. I crave chips and cheese all the time. This cheese is plant-based, so much healthier than the preservative loaded variety I tend to grab. I can pronounce all the ingredients in the cheese sauce: Water, Organic Cashews, Organic Onions, Organic Carrots, Organic Almond Butter, Organic Tapioca Starch, Sea Salt, Organic Distilled Vinegar, Nutritional Yeast, Organic Garlic Powder, Organic Sunflower Lecithin, and Natural Flavor.
Almond Chickpea Cookie Dough This cookie dough is one you can eat guilt-free. You can eat this right out of the tub as I did, or make it into cookies. Hungryroot also says you can eat this with nut butter or ice cream.
This is a look at the cookie dough right out of the tub. It has a wonderful sweet flavor.
Green Chile This chile sauce has a kick to it. It's made with tomatillos, poblano peppers, and jalapeños. I plan to make this with some chicken enchiladas.
Black Bean Brownie Batter This batter is on my to-do list. You heat the oven to 350 degrees and back the batter in muffin tins for 15-18 minutes. The batter is made with black beans and unsweetened almond butter, but it is sweet.
Thai Peanut You can eat this peanut sauce with veggies or make it into a great stir fry. Since my son is allergic, my husband took this for work as a snack.
Cherry Chia Maple Oatmeal My husband loved this oatmeal for breakfast. It's a great mix of Gluten-Free Rolled Oats, Diced Cherries, Organic Maple Sugar, Chia Seeds, and Sea Salt. This makes for a quick and healthy breakfast.
Superfood Almond Butter You can eat this right out of the package or use it for a PB&J. I ate this with some fresh veggies and it was a nice snack.
Spinach Garlic Chicken Sausage These chicken sausages were a huge hit in my family. We ate both packages in one meal because my kids couldn't get enough. The links cook up a bit small, so each of my kids at two.
I would love to have more of these.
