Appleseed Lane's boxes are filled with 3-5 Science and Math projects. The subscription is $23.00 a month and the box is packed with activities for children 4-10. If you want to try
Appleseed Lane, click
HERE and use the code FRIEND10 and put my name (Erin Hamm) in the order comments section (It will be the page you put your address in). L is 4 years old and was so excited for this box to come. He loves Science and completing projects. C helped L with this box has he loves electricity and circuits.
 |
| The Box |
Appleseed Lane has the cutest boxes. They are very kid friendly and L knew it was his box right away.
 |
| Information Card |
The card this month was a bit wrinkled from all the materials in the box. It wasn't a big deal at all. This month's theme was Electricity and Circuits. The projects were Power it Up, Let It Flow, Static Magic and a bonus project Starry Night. There was also information about a contest to win $50.00, by making a circuit with Play Dough. C and L will work on the contest later this week.
 |
| Directions |
All the directions to each project are on the back of the information card. I like how they make good use of the materials without adding clutter to the box.
 |
| Playdough, Seedlings Magazine, and Conductor/Insulator test |
Appleseed Lane included Play Dough for the contest. Seedlngs is a magazine/book that is included in each
Appleseed Lane box. This Seedlings is a book that discusses electricity, circuits, and electrochemical cells. This is a very informative book. L is very fascinated about electricity and how it works. L really enjoyed reading this book with C. The conductor/insulator test will be used in one of the projects.
 |
| Reading Seedlings |
 |
| Power It Up Project |
This project involves making a circuit with water, to make a light turn out.
 |
| Power It Up Project |
L and C worked hard on this project, but couldn't get the light to turn on. We are not sure what went wrong, but they had fun putting it together.Update: Appleseed Lane emailed all subscribers and gave updated instructions for this project. We will try the updated instructions soon.
 |
| Let It Flow |
This project was all about testing different materials to see if they were conductors or insulators.
 |
| Paper Clip |
This was L's favorite project. L and C made a circuit and tested each item to see how it test. There was a rubber band, paper clip, plastic chip, penny, and golf tee. L had so much fun with this, we tested a pair of scissors too.
 |
| The Test |
 |
| Static Magic |
As you could guess, this project was all about static electricity
 |
| The project |
This one was really fun. The project involved putting a nickel on it's side and balancing a stick on top. That was pretty tricky! L helped generated the static electricity and he watched the stick move.
 |
| Static Electricity and Water |
L and I used static electricity to move water!
 |
| Starry Night |
In this project, L made a lantern, they he made a circuit to light it up
 |
| Working on the lantern |
 |
| The lantern |
L loved seeing this lantern lit up!
 |
| The Whole Box |
Final Thought: This was a fantastic box. I am glad Appleseed Lane followed up with subscribers about the Power It Up project. L and I are going to try it again soon. L loved learning about electricity and circuits. L is fascinated with Science and this box was age appropriate and on his level. It is very hard to find age appropriate Science experiments for kids. Appleseed Lane is $23.00 and you can save $10.00 on your first box by using the code FRIEND10 and put my name (Erin Hamm) in the order comments section (It will be the page you put your address in). I always look forward to my
Stork Stack. I almost always like my boxes and they are generally filled with unique things.
Stork Stack is $27.99 a month, but if you click
HERE and use the code
EA4827B9. This month's theme was “Toy Chest”. I was really excited to see what would be in the box. This box was for a 21 month old boy.
 |
| The Box |
I say this every time, but I really love Stork Stack's boxes.
From
Stork Stack “Everyone will want a turn to swivel, pivot and rotate the nine hardwood segments of this charming giraffe! Put this patient fellow in every possible configuration for fascinating fine motor fun. Held together with durable, elastic bungee, this wooden baby toy is sure to hold the attention of your youngster!”
We actually have this from my older son. It is a great toy, but T has outgrown it. This is for a younger child than T. I would rather have a toy T could grow into, since he is almost 2.
From Stork Stack “EDUSHAPE® Ltd. is family owned & operated providing product to the global educational, toy and specialty markets. Established in 1983, our main focus is to manufacture quality children’s toy & products. EDUSHAPE® Ltd. is committed to producing soft, safe, quality children’s toys which ultimately promote successful developmental learning through play. Our main focus is for children ages: birth to 5 years old.”
This is a nice ball that T loves, but it is slightly under-filled. I am not sure if it is supposed to be under-filled, so I have sent Stork Stack an email.
From
Stork Stack “PRETZEL CRISPS® give you that satisfying, hearty crunch in a versatile shape that’s dippable, spreadable, and deliciously snackable. With great gourmet taste from naturally wholesome ingredients, it’s the perfect snack anytime!”
These were so good and I was really impressed with how tasty they were. I have actually ordered more on Amazon!
From
Stork Stack “Honest Tea is excited to introduce Honest Kids in a new “fruit-juice sweetened” formulation. All five varieties have been updated by removing the organic cane sugar and increasing the juice content – now between 30-42% depending on variety.”
T doesn't drink anything but milk, so I am going to let L try it.
From
Stork Stack “These velvety-soft lovies make the sweetest, snuggliest security blankets. Founded in 2002, Cloud b is the world’s leading manufacturer of products and accessories that help parents and children sleep. They hold the honor of being internationally recognized as the number one company in the sleep niche category – thanks to high-quality designs, exceptional safety standards and products that are proven to help children sleep safely and soundly through all stages of development.”
This is super cute, the turtle's head pop's through the hole in the blanket. I really love how cute it is, but it is again a bit young. T has a bear he loves, and I don't think he will play with this much. He hasn't actually played with it at all yet.
Final Thought: The total value of this box was $25.08. I am very disappointed in this box. I feel the giraffe and lovie were too young for a 21 month old. The ball was okay, but under filled. The drink and chips were only worth $1.00 or so. I don't like that the box was worth less than the $27.99 regular price. I am not sure if I will give
Stork Stack another month or not. I have been very impressed with
Austin Lloyd, and may switch my subscription. If you want to try
Stork Stack, click
HERE and use the code EA4827B9 to save $10.00 on your first box.
