16 Minute Club Review – Pre-Natal – 3 Month Giveaway – Discount -Breastfeeding Subscription Box

16 Minute Club

16 minute club sent me this box to review.  The 16 Minute club is a monthly subscription service for breastfeeding moms. They send you what you need (education and products), right when you need it (based on baby’s developmental stage).  Why 16 minutes?  16 minutes is the average length of a breastfeeding session.

My Breastfeeding Story: I was really excited to see a box to support breastfeeding.  I have two boys and I breastfed them both, till they were each over 20 months old.  I loved breastfeeding, but it wasn't without challenges.  My first struggles to maintain a  proper latch and we faced other obstacles during our breastfeeding journey.  I never went to any groups, because I am a shy person, and it seemed a bit scary, to be with a bunch of women I didn't know. I relied on my mom, lactation consultants at the hospital and the internet to get me though the challenges.  Once I had my second, I thought I was an “expert”.  My son was born at 35 weeks and had to be in the NICU for a week.  I faced new and scary obstacles trying to breastfeed a premie.   Through my breastfeeding journey, it would have been great to have a monthly box, to help me with some of the challenges.

Here is where 16 minute club comes in.   16 minute club wants to make it easier for you to reach your breastfeeding goals and have the information and products you need on hand for each developmental stage your baby grows through. Their solution will be delivered to your doorstep every six weeks, starting at $35.00 per box. Never worry about not being prepared, the 16 Minute Club is here to help you one breastfeeding session at a time.

16 Minute Club was founded by Wendy Wright , IBCLC,   Wendy is a a board certified lactation consultant.  Wendy says “From the moment I breastfed my first baby I knew I wanted to share the experience with as many families as possible. As a board certified lactation consultant I have supported families in hospitals, clinics, support groups and one on one to achieve success. The 16 Minute Club is my way of continuing to help as many families as possible to breastfeed their babies.”  The first month, you will get a beautiful binder to hold all the chapters you will receive.  Each month you will receive a new chapter that goes with he age/development of your child.  You will also get a box full of items that help support breastfeeding.  The important part of this box is the support and education.

The Details:

Cost: $35.00 a month.  Each month has a different theme.

Breastfeeding Goal 3 months (Boxes 1-3) $105.00.

Breastfeeding Goal 6 months (Boxes 1-6) save 5%  $199.50

Breastfeeding Goal 12 months (Boxes 1-10) save 10% $315.00

Coupon: Use subboxmom10% will save you 10% off all purchases.  expires 3/19/14

What's in the box? Every very six weeks as your baby develops and your breastfeeding relationship evolves, you’ll get a new chapter of the breastfeeding handbook. In your first box you’ll get a beautiful binder for organization and storage of your handbook chapters. You’ll also get educational items adapted by Wendy for the 16 Minute Club to assist you in overcoming obstacles common to the phase you are entering and you’ll receive supportive products selected by Wendy to enhance breastfeeding and baby’s ongoing development. The retail value of each box will be greater than the subscription price – please keep in mind – it is the information and education that will make all the difference in your breastfeeding success; products are there to assist you and make everything just a little easier or more fun.

When will I get my box? You should receive a box every six weeks based on baby’s due date or birthday – whichever you have provided in your profile page.

When am I billed?  You are billed upfront for your subscription.  You can buy 1 month at a time, or buy a multi month plan.

How do I cancel? Please call 16 minute club at 866-797-9538 to cancel your subscription. Please make sure to cancel at least 48 hours before the next planned shipment if you don’t want to get the next box. If you’re having trouble for any reason, email them at [email protected] and we’ll help you out.

Chapter 1- Breast Practices

Chapter 1- Breast Practices

I received the first 6 chapters as part of my review box.  I won't spoil all the wonderful information, but here are some of the featured topics : developmental milestones and how that effects breastfeeding, communication, proper latch, growth spurts, introducing a bottle and how introducing solids effects breastfeeding.

Second Life

Second Look

The box was filled with all kinds of goodies, to help support breastfeeding.

How Much Breast Milk Do I Need to Make

How Much Breast Milk Do I Need to Make

How Much Breast Milk Do I Need to Make?

This is one of my favorite parts of the box!  The small shooter marble is the size if a newborns stomach.  The ping pong ball is the stomach capacity on day 3 and the egg is the size of a baby's stomach on day 10.  A mom reaches full milk supply between day 10 and 21 days.  I love that there are visual representations of baby's stomach.  When you are first starting to nurse or pump, it is easy to think you are not producing enough.

Breast Assured Breast Pads

Breast Assured Breast Pads: These help protect against stains and wetness.  Breast pads because a constant companion those first few months.

Birds and Bees Teas Caffeine Free Peaceful Pregnancy Tea

Pregnancy Pops

Pregnancy Pops

Pregnancy Pops:  These were one of my favorite things during my pregnancies.  I experienced morning sickness through out my pregnancy and these really helped with my symptoms.   These have a great taste and come in sour lemon, sour tangerine, sour raspberry and green apple.

Pariday TendHer Pillow and Pillowcase

Pariday TendHer Pillow and Pillowcase

Pariday TendHer Pillow and Pillowcase: are reusable breast pads/soothing pillows filled with gel.  You can use them cool or warm.  They fit in pillow cases that double has leak guards. These are great to help with sore nipples, plugged ducts, mastitis, cracked nipples, engorgement, a poor latch and more.

Baby Baby Oh Baby DVD

This is a very detailed DVD about breastfeeding.  It covers baby's first nursing experience and different positions.  This is really informative.

Mother Love Roid Balm and Mother Love Pregancy Belly Salve

Mother Love Roid Balm and Mother Love Pregancy Belly Salve

Mother Love Rhoid Balm and Mother Love Pregnancy Belly Salve : The Rhoid balm soothes and relieves the discomfort and itch associated with hemorrhoids.  The pregnancy belly salve helps prevent stretch marks and relieve the itch of skin stretching.  The box was held shut by one of those cool hair ties.

I love Mother Love products,  I have used several of their products and they all work as designed.

Cutest Baby Ever Sticker and Baby on Board Sign

Cutest Baby Ever Sticker and Baby on Board Sign

Cutest Baby Ever Sticker and Baby on Board Sign: The Baby on Board sign ($3.99) is super cute and nice to put in your car window.  I always wanted those cute baby stickers, but I never found them.  These are really fun and you can get ones with numbers for baby's first 12 months.

There were several advertisements for some new products.

Baby Information

Baby Information

The last items in the box was baby information cards.  There is a card about the do's and don't on safe sleeping, the scoop on poop, signs your baby may not be getting enough to eat and signs your baby is well fed.  The last card is signs that your baby is positioned poorly and signs your baby is positioned well.  These are really informative cards.  I liked the scoop on poop.  There are some differences in baby poop from formula fed babies and breast fed babies.  I also really like the latch card.  A proper latch is really important, in order to have a positive nursing experience.

16 Minute Club

16 Minute Club

Final Thought:  This is a fantastic box.  Breastfeeding is very rewarding, but it can be challenging.  I loved all the educational aspects of this box.  16 minute club is like having your own lactation consultant.  16 Minute Club gives you the education, support and resources, for you to meet all your breastfeeding goals.  Even my husband was impressed.  I caught him reading the information the other night.  He said he wished this box was around when I was nursing, because he would have read the information.  If you are interested in Breastfeeding and would love to have some support, check out 16 Minute Club.  You can save 10% on all orders, by using the code subboxmom10%  and clicking HERE.  16 Minute Club has generously agreed to give one of my readers a three month subscription!  Just enter the giveaway below.

Drunk on Ink Ink Coasters - Alcohol Ink Coasters

Drunk on Ink Ink Coasters – Alcohol Ink Coasters

My interests were photography, technology and family.  My gift was from Drunk on Ink and was a set of four Alcohol Ink Coasters.  They are made by Ashley Ulbricht.  The coasters sell in a pack of 2 on Etsy for $9.00.  The total cost for 4 coasters plus shipping, would be $26.90.  This is a bit lower than the $30.00 price, but I do love the coasters.  If I saw them in an an artisan fair, I would buy them.

Blind Suprise

Blind Surprise

Final Thought:  I love the idea of this box.  I like that you can give your preferences and have a special present sent to you.  I also like that Blind Surprise uses independent artisans and inventors to get the products for their boxes.  I was a bit disappointed that the value was a lower than $30.00 but I was very happy with coasters.  I would have liked to receive more background information about the company.  If you are interested in Blind Surprise, click HERE.
