As your child digs for gemstones, they can find out what they are from the card. The back of the card has directions on how to explore the gemstones in the box.

The 10 trading cards come with a protective sleeve. My sons liked referencing the the stones from his kit to the pictures on the cards.

There are only a few tools needed to find your gemstones. Each subscriber receives a magnifing glass, detail brush, wooden pick and a fresh nap to wipe off your rocks.

Once you get all your gemstones, you can display them in the multi-devider case or the smaller box. Both of my boys wanted rocks from the subscription, so it was nice that there were two different ways to store the rocks.

All the gemstones came packed in a cement like sand. My boys have done similar projects before and they really enjoy it.

Digging & Cleaning

The wooden peg was pointy enough to dig away at the sand, but not sharp enough to hurt a child. Both of my kids enjoyed digging and discovering new gemstones, but my 11 year old enjoyed it the most. He has his own collection of gemstones and has studied them in his spare time.

This is not a quick project, which makes it great for kids who get bored easily.

Once all the rocks are found, my son used the wet wipe to clean off each rock.

Some of the smaller rocks were put in the plastic divider and the larger rocks were put in the small box with the clear lid.

Final Thought: This box was a fun project for both of my boys. My oldest loves gemstones and enjoyed studying the ones we received. This would be a nice subscription for parents homeschooling their children or those you enjoy the physical sciences. Get $5 off your 1st box with this link.
