Smudge Kids Co. is a art experience subscription for children.
Boxes are $25.00/month and come with bright and colorful art materials and a art technique brochure. Boxes are designed for children 4-8 years old and contains multiple projects in a box.
Smudge Kids Co shipped in a polymailer bag and the box was decorated in a color paint pattern.
First Look
Information Guide Each box comes with an information guide with details about how to do all projects in the box.
Treat Each box contains a treat for the kids. This month included two packages of fun dip.
Squirt Guns One of the projects this month used squirt guns. What a fun activity for summer.
Foam Tray and Paints The foam tray is used with the shaving cream project. The paint case is great for many of the projects in the box. You can also use this for future projects.
Ink In addition to the paint case, there were six bottles of liquid watercolors.
Salt and Toothpicks There were also packages of salt and toothpicks.
Paper There were several sheets of white paper, a white canvas, and some sheets of black paper.
Squirt Gun Artwork
You fill the squirt guns with water and watercolor, then shake. We set this up outside since it was messy. We used the white canvas print. I think we should’ve tried the plain paper instead and used less water to the watercolors. My son loved doing this, but the finished print turned out rather light.
Marbled Paper
This project was my son’s favorite one. You spray shaving cream on the tray and then add watercolors to the cream. You can use the toothpick to swirl the color in the shaving cream.
Once you have the color in the shaving cream, you lay a piece of paper on top of the shaving cream, then lift.
This worked very well. Once you lift the paper, you can wipe off the excess shaving cream.
Salt & Watercolors
For the salt project, you make a design with glue, then sprinkle salt on it for a textured look.
Once your picture is made, you can add watercolors for the design. My son used the liquid watercolors, but I think we should’ve let the glue dry then painted them with the watercolor case.
Final Thought: My son had a great time with this box. I wish there were a few more pieces of paper in the box, but I liked all the project ideas. There were still a few projects we haven’t completed yet, so there are plenty of activities to keep your kids busy. If you want to try this subscription, use this link.
