First Look
Every box comes with an information guide. They have changed the information guide to a larger format with full-color pictures. You receive detailed information about every item in the box, along with information about the artisans who make the items.
Green Rim Hand-Blown Glass with Handle, Mexico $30.00 I love the look of blown glass. The artistry it takes to make each piece always amazes me. These glass mugs are made of very thick glass with an easy to hold handle. It's important to note that these mugs should not be used for cold or cool liquids. Do not use this for your hot tea or coffee.
Hand-Embroidered Mask, India $20.00 This fabric mask is hand embroidered and has an elastic band to fit over your head. This is great if you are celebrating Mardis Gras or have a costume party to attend. GlobeIn featured Zaiba in their information guide. She is 25 years old and has worked with fabric and jewelry for the past 6 years to provide for her family.
Upcycled Gold and Sari Macrame Garland, India $28.00 This beautiful garland was made with upcycled sarees. This is a beautiful piece and I think it would look great as a valence above a window. I think I am going to save this and use it for party decorations.
Beaded Necklace – Set of 2, India $12.00 These are designed to look like typical Mardi Gras beads, but they are much nicer. Each necklace is made of hand carved bead. Thes necklaces are much too pretty to throw. You can use them for decorations for a Mardi Gras party, or wear them to complete your look.
Handsewn Mini Plush Animal, Sri Lanka $4.00 Everyone receives a little plush animal but styles vary. I got the monkey, who has a little purple tail. Shiomi is the artisan that crafted this plush. She lives with her aunt and gives half her income to her parents for their care. She also gives 1/4th of her money to her aunt.
Final Thought: This box had a total value of $94.00. The glass mugs were my favorite items in the box. Not only are they useful, but they are beautiful as well.
