The August box was pirate themed.
The book is packed with fun activities, all made around dinosaurs.
There are all kinds of activities in the book for your child to complete.
Each kit comes bagged with all the materials needed.
Activity #1
Dress Like A Pirate: Each activity pack comes with an information card about the activity. For this activity, your child will make a pirate hat, and Polly the Parrot. The project is rated very low messiness, low difficulty, and very little time involved.
There were many embellishments to decorate the pirate hat and parent. There were papers for your child to pick out their pirate name and be able to talk like a pirate.
My son started working on the parrot. First, the body of the parrot was painted purple.
All the pieces stuck on easily and there was a pipe cleaner through the bottom, so you could attach it to your arm.
This is my son's completed hat and bird. There was an eye patch that was also included.
Activity #2
An Arrr-Mazing Show: For this activity, your child uses the pieces to build a puppet show. There was also a paper to make a cannon to blow pom-pom cannonballs.
The puppet show had a mermaid and pirate made with wooden spoons.
Your child could use the black crayon to make the face on each character.

My son set up the puppet theater right away and created a whole story. This was one of my son's favorite parts of the box. He even got the space puppets from our first Kid Wonder box to use with this mermaid and pirate.
My son loved shooting the cannonballs at the boat. When his brother walked by, he got cannon balled too.
Activity #3
Treasure Hunt For this activity, the parent hides 5 clues and a bag of treasure in various locations and your child has to find the treasure. The other part of this activity is a set of exercises, while also acting like pirates. We are in the middle of spring/fall cleaning, so I didn't take pictures of this activity. My youngest loved the treasure hunt.
Activity #4
Pirate's Booty Slime It's time to make slime! The kit came with all the ingredients to make pirate slime. There was also a trace and match worksheet in the kit.
My son got right to work making the slime. The first step was to pour in the glue and the liquid watercolor in the plastic cup.
Once you begin stirring the mixture, you add bottle #3 to make it come together.
It starts pretty sticky, but adding more of bottle #3 makes it turn to perfect slime.
Once the slime was done, you can add the coins.
There was even a pirate themed plastic bag to hold the slime. My son doesn't always love slimy textures, but he has really enjoyed playing with this slime.
Activity #5
Design A Pirate Ship This activity lets your kid build a wooden pirate ship. The kit came with all the parts of the ship, including some scissors. There was a letter sort activity, parts of the ship paper and information about nautical directions.
I didn't take pictures of every step, because I had to help with several steps. The instructions were fairly easy to understand, though I ended up with an extra sail at the end and I am not sure why.
The sails had to be glued to the wooden parts after being slipped through the posts, which was pretty difficult.
We had to let it dry before the last step.
The last part of the activity was to tie on the string and attach the last sail. It was hard to keep the sail in place to try, but my son and I got it to work. This is the finished boat and my son has been sailing it all over the house.
Final Thought: My 6 year old always enjoys this subscription. He enjoys the imaginative play aspects of the box the most. He has been playing with the puppet theater over and over with various toys in his room. Today, Paw Patrol rescued the mermaid from the pirate.
