First Look

The small card is from Scout, who lets kids know about the monthly theme. The book is packed with fun activities, all made around dinosaurs.

There are all kinds of activities in the book for your child to complete.

Activity #1

Dress Like A Dinosaur: Each activity pack comes with an information card about the activity. For this activity, your child will make a dino mask with tail.  The project is rated very low messiness, low difficulty, and very little time involved.

The tail was already completed, so all that was left was the mask. The mask came with horns and spots to stick on the mask.

My son got right to work sticking on all the parts.

My little dinosaur.

Activity #2

Make A Dinosaur Habitat: For this activity, your child uses the pieces to build a dinosaur habitat. This activity came with several different pieces, so your child could really use their imagination.

There was also a count and graph sheet so you could document all the various objects in the picture.

The first step was to make a volcano, so my son mixed the brown powder with the dough. There was a mess mat included, but I forgot to put it down at first.

This was a messy project, but it was easy to clean up. My son formed the volcano and let it dry.

Before it dried, my son stuck the paper lava pieces in the top.

While the volcano dried, my son started on the habitat The box turns into the habitat. The blue felt piece was the sky and the green one was for grass.

My son had a great time moving the lava pieces around to chase the dinosaurs.

This is the finished habitat with the died volcano. It's still being played with too!

Activity #3

Junior Paleontologist Yoga! For this activity, the parent hides fossil cards and your child has to find them and document them in their journal. When they are done, kids can do the different yoga poses in the book.

There was also a fun game included in the box.

The game is basically shoots and ladders, dino style. My son and I played this a couple of times.

Activity #4

Dinosaur Excavation My son wanted to do this activity first thing! He loves crafts, paint, and dirt, so it was right up his alley.

You create bones from the clay, let them dry then your child can dig them up. They can also paint the magnifying glass.

My son got the paints out before I could read the instructions. This was the first activity he completed.

While the magnifying glass was drying, my son formed bones form the clay.

I had to help with some of the smaller, more detailed areas.

All the pieces of bone were buried in the sand, and then my son brushed them clean with the paint brush.

All the bones were inspected with the magnifying glass.

Activity #5

Fizzing Dinosaur Egg! If your kids love bath bombs, this activity will be fun. Your child will encase a dinosaur with a mix of citric acid and baking soda.

You need a couple of measuring spoons, so while I was finding those, my son traced different dino themed words.

The solution was mixed with a bit of water to form around the dinosaurs.

Each rubber dinosaur was wrapped inside the citric acid and baking soda.

We let them dry overnight, then they were dropped in water. My son loved watching them fix.

Both dinosaurs were found!

Final Thought: I loved dinosaurs as a child, so I really enjoyed doing this box with my son. My son loved painting, crafting, and making the habitat. This box had many different activities do, so your child won't get bored anytime soon. If you want to try this box, use the coupon CRATEJOY30 to save 30% on your 1st box.
