First Look
The theme for this box is “Sophisticate”. The information guide gives you background information about all the products in the box and the artisans who make them.
Ikat Wallet, India, 4.5” x 7.5” $30.00 This wallet is made in the ikat weaving cooperative in the southern part of India, Andhra Pradiesh. The print on the wallet was all done by hand. It began with the spinning the cotton, then dying the threads and finally, weaving. This is a sturdy wallet and there are many different pockets to store receipts, credit cards, change and your driver's license.
There is a pocket on the back of the wallet that is great for receipts.
There are numberous pockets for credit cards, cash and change.
Brave Bracelet, Uganda $25.00 This bracelet is made through the company Sseko Designs. This company employs girls during the 9 month break between secondary school and university. Girls use this time to save up for university. After the 9 month period, Sseko matches their savings at 100%. This is a pretty gold bracelet that will go with various different looks.
This is a pretty bracelet and I like that it came with a pretty fabric bag.
Earth & Fire Necklace, India, 2.25″ x 1 7/8″, 15″ drop $22.00 This beautiful necklace has a crescent metal piece that is engraved by hand. One of the artisans, Sangram uses sustainably harvest wood and other recycled metal pieces for the jewelry.
The necklace is made through Matre Boomie, which is a great company that gives back to artisans all over the world.
I love the detailing on the metal crescent.
Decorative Tray, India, 6” x 6″ $15.00 This tray is the perfect place to hold the new jewelry pieces. This is made with 100% recycled cotton paper. To create this bowl, discarded cotton scraps and broken down into fibers, by using a wheel press. The fibers are soaked, strained, pressed, dried, and ironed. This bowl was made by not using any trees.
I love the blue and color scheme.
Final Thought: This was a beautiful box. I loved the tray and the wallet the most. I would love to have a couple of wallets, one for my purse and one for my passport.
