First Look
The book inside the box contained activities, games and the brick story. The book has a featured story and has you read, you complete different build challenges.
The story for December was A Chimpunk's Tale”. Anywhere you see a red brick, that's a new brick challenge. This story was about a little chipmunk that wakes up during hibernation to eat. His parents are gone, so he sets off to find food on his own.
The first challenge was to make a LEGO snowflake using the spotlight piece and up to 15 other pieces.
This is the completed snowflake. My 5 year old and I did this box together. He doesn't have as many longer pieces my older son, so this snowflake was a bit simple.
The second challenge was to build a sled to escape the geese!
My son and I went with a simple sled with an aerodynamic design.
The third challenge was the blindfold build challenge. Using the large bag of pieces, build a pair of LEGO scissors to allow the chipmunk to escape the stocking.
I ended up completing this challenge, because my son didn't want to be blindfolded. I thought this turned out rather well. It was much more difficult than I imagined.
The fourth challenge was to use the other large bag of LEGOs to make a nutcracker.
This is our completed nutcracker. The two small pieces at the top is the mouth and the green thing is keeping the head on the body.
The last challenge was to make a lumberjack from the minifig and accessories. You could also use your own pieces.
Since my son doesn't have a large minifig collection, we just used the pieces in the box.
Final Thought: My family really enjoys this subscription. It's a good box for kids of all ages, because kids get to use their imagination. I like that there are so many bricks in the box, so your child will have several to add to their collection. You can check Booster Bricks at this link.
