First Look
There was a welcome letter explaining the new subscription.
The book inside the box contained activities, games and the brick story. The book has a featured story and has you read, you complete different build challenges.
The story for October was Halloween High Jinks. Anywhere you see a red brick, that's a new brick challenge.
The back of the book had a photo contest, “Brick-Libs”, aka Mad Libs, I-SPY, staff picks and information about a Facebook group. This book was really packed with information.
The first challenge was to take the Microbuild Challenge pack and build a scarecrow.
My 8 year old's scarecrow had a shooting mechanism on top. That would scare away anything in a field.
Both of my boys enjoyed completed the challenges in this month's box.
The second challenge was to build the guardian of the witch's lair, using the Premier challenge pack. This was the biggest bag of bricks in the box. It was a huge assortment of bricks. Since both of my boys were each doing challenges, my son ended up using some of his own bricks for this challenge. You were supposed to just use the bricks given. Oops!
This is the finished guardian!
The third challenge was to make Friday (a character in the story), look like one of the witch's minions. This is one of the challenges that you could use your own bricks for, though we only used the bricks provided.
My 5 year old created Friday. He has a bullhorn, giant magnifying glass, and has fire coming out of his head.
The next challenge was hard! You had to blindfold yourself, and then make a key from the challenge pack.
My son kept wanting to peek, but ended up completing the challenge. I think it does look like a large key!
The last challenge was to use the “Spotlight Piece of the Month” to create a witch's broom. You could only use 15 other pieces in your project.
I thought this was a very interesting brook. It's jet powered!
Final Thought: Booster Brick's new subscription box was fun, amazingly fun! There were so many bricks in the box and my kids had a blast thinking what they would build. I love the creative element in the box, so kids hae to use their imaginations. My husband and I wanted to play right along with out kids. This would be a fun family subscription. Right now there is a waitlist, but it's opening up soon, just check Booster Bricks at this link.
