Koala Crate December 2016 “Snow” Review
Koala Crate is a subscription for 3-4 year olds. Boxes are $19.95 and filled with a fun magazine and crafts. Each box comes with 2-3 creative activities, a parent guide, online activities, and imagine magazine. Koala Crate has a partnership with Highlights magazine, so there are fun articles and activities included in the box. My 4-year-old gets Koala Crate and he loves that he can do crafts just like his older brother.
Everything comes in a yellow box.
All the instructions for the projects are in a fold out guide.
Koala Crate works with Highlights Magazine to create Imagine Magazine. The magazine is filled with stories and games, similar to Highlights magazine. The theme for December is “Snow”.
Each activity has a key to let parents know how messy it is, how much grownup involvement is needed and what skills the child will learn.
Penguin Bowling (Messiness: Medium Grownup Involvement: Medium) My older son did this activity in a Kiwi Crate when he was little and is was such a huge hit. Children put together penguins, then used the stickers and dry erase maker to decorate each one.
This project included penguins, a ball, stickers and a dry erase marker.

Bowling! This kept my son occupied for about an hour.
Ice Painting Postcards (Messiness: High, Grownup Involvement: High) Your child makes colored icy Popsicles, then uses them to paint postcards.
This project included a Popsicle set, colored powder and postcards.
The first step was to mix the powder with water to make the colored Popsicles.
It took some strength to snap on the lid to the container.
T had fun painting each postcard. We sat them out for a few minutes, so they can begin to melt.
Here are two of the postcards. The third postcard has floated off somewhere.
Snow Globe (Messiness: Medium, Grownup Involvement: Medium) I forgot to take a picture of the supplies or this one. The box came with air dry clay, confetti, cardboard face pieces and a globe.
The first step was to build the snowman. The directions suggested two balls. instead of the typical 3.
Then the face, arms and accessories were added.
You dump the confetti into the container, then place the snowman in and you are done.
Final Thought: The December Koala Crate was so much fun! This ended up being our last Koala Crate, before T graduated to Kiwi Crate. Stay tuned for our January box for that review!
