Hi, this is Whitney!  I'm excited to do my second guest review for you today.  I am an elementary school teacher and a mother to a 7 year old.  I love trying out new subscription boxes and I'm excited to share this one with you.

Mysteries in Time is a subscription box that sends young historians a time machine box bursting with high-quality, fun activities bringing world history to life including an illustrated story, educational booklet with activities, and in the bumper box a craft and artifact from the time period.

The box looks like the time machine on the cover of the Max and Katie book that came with this box.  My daughter loved that she had her own time machine to keep!

Ancient Egypt: History and Facts booklet

It also included a quiz at the end of the informational part of the booklet.  Going back to find the answers to a question in a text is an important skill for students and this was a great way to practice after reading through the booklet.

After the quiz there were several puzzles in the booklet including a number pyramid, spot the difference, deciphering hieroglyphs, a maze, anagrams, and a word search (answer key is on the back of the booklet).

The box included 3 ancient Egypt coloring pages and a set of colored pencils.

Max and Katie's Adventure book, 2 bookmarks, stickers, and a hieroglyphics key

The book is 46 pages long and follows Max (age 11) and Katie (age 8) as they go back in time to Ancient Egypt.  Their mission is to solve the mystery of the pharaoh's 9-year-old daughter, who has vanished without a trace.  The book engages readers into a world of historical fiction that compliments the informational booklet that is included in the box.  The reading level is right on par for a second grader reading at grade level, but would be a fun easy read for more advanced readers.

Craft supplies

This box included all craft supplies to create the amulet along with easy to follow directions.

     

My daughter loved working on the craft.  The clay was ready to use right out of the package and easy to mold the way she wanted.

The paint and paintbrush was included to complete the craft.

   

The puzzles at the end of the book were fun and engaging.  My daughter even decided to use the hieroglyphs to create her own message for me to decode.

Final Thought: Mysteries in Time is a wonderful educational box that provides fun, learning, and engaging activities. We had so much fun learning about Ancient Egypt.  The craft, the puzzles, and the coloring pages made it fun and memorable.  The quiz was a great way to check for understanding and to reinforce skills of finding answers in a text.  This is a great subscription for homeschoolers or for kids (and parents) who love history.
