The GlobeIn Benefit Basket is an artisan subscription box and a great box for people who love the regular GlobeIn box, but want a bit less.
The Benefit Basket contains one crafted good from a remarkable, remote artisan, all in a colorful, handwoven basket from their weaving collective in Oaxaca, Mexico. You will also get story of the artisan, their community, and how you are making an impact on their lives. The Benefit Basket is $19.95/month or $56.95 for 3 months, but you can get $7.00 off your 1 box of a 3 month subscription with the code TRYBENEFIT.
GlobeIn ships in the same green boxes every month, and I just think they have a nice look.
First Look. There was a sticker inside the lid that gave a clue to this month's item. Every month, there is an information card, which gives details about the items in the box and the artisans who crafted them.
Inside the information card, there was a little story about one of the artisans. Sunday became an orphan by 12 years old and had to take on the responsibility or raising her siblings. She joined Krochet Kids to help pay for their care and once grown, was a way to help herself. After working with the company for two years, she want to own her own buisness. She ended up buying a grocery store in her neighborhood and now is the “rich lady” in town.
GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket from Oaxaca, Mexico $12.00 Each subscriber also received a beautiful handwoven basket from Mexico. Styles and colors vary. These baskets can be used for decoration, wrapping presents or storage! These are great for storing small toys or organizing tea in your cabinet.
Hand-Crocheted Beanie by Krochet Kids, Uganda $30.00 (Blush or Black) The featured item this month was this beautiful handcrafted beanie, made of 100% soft acrylic yarn. It's so soft, it's like holding a bunny. There is a very slight gather in the front, so it's more stylish than tradition beanies. The sides can pull over your ears, with the beanie not falling in your eyes. The inside of the beanie is even signed by the artist! Krochet Kids focuses their business on empowering women. The women who work there are less likely to be victims of physical abuse, and more like to be leaders in their family and community. I love learning about where my GlobeIn items come from. This beanie is fantastic and roomy enough for even my giant head.
Here is a look at the beanie on!
Final Thought: I loved this month's box and it had a total value of $42.00, more than double the cost of the box. I really never wear hats but this one is an exception. In addition to supporting a great cause, this hat also looks pretty decent on me. Given it's below freezing here, the fact it's also cozy, I am loving this hat. If you want to subscribe, you can get $7.00 off your 1 box of a 3 month subscription with the code TRYBENEFIT. You will pay under $17.00/box.
