First Look

Information Card: The inside lid had an information card with everything in the box.  My box had the wrong information card, so Culture Chest sent me a new card. The theme for October is “Asian Cuisine”.

Bee-Bim Bop! Paperback by Linda Sue Park $7.12 Bee – bim Bop means mix mix rice.  This book is about a Korean-American girl helping her mom cook.  The story has a rhythmic tone, which makes it a fun book to read.  My 3 year old enjoyed reading this with me.

Cora Cooks Pancit Paperback by Dorina K. Lazo Gilmore $9.95 This book is about a little girl named Cora, who finally gets to help her mother make a Filipino dish, pancit.  Cora usually does the “kid” jobs, but on this day, she gets to really help her mom make the dish.

Meiji Hello Panda Chocolate Biscuit This is one of my children's favorite Japanese treats.  Each of these treats have a cute panda and they are filled with chocolate.

Seasoned Seaweed This seaweed is dry roasted and seasoned.  Our family isn't particularly a fan, so I give all my dry seaweed to my brother.  He will be thrilled to receive it.

Nongshim Shrimp Crackers These look like fries, but are shrimp flavored crackers.  These actually smell more like shrimp than they taste.  My kids thought these were really different, but they enjoyed them.

Final Thought: This box was a nice glimpse into Asian Cuisine.  My kids liked eating the Hello Panda snacks and the shrimp crackers.  I wished the Hello Panda snacks had came in bigger container, but we were able to share the package.  The books were my favorite part of the subscription.  We read with our kids everyday, so we always like getting new books.  If you want to subscribe, use this link and the code WELCOME to save 10% on your 1st box.
