First Look
Week 1: Read the #roomforwild challenge card, wear the mask and visit 96elephants.org to learn more about their mission. The #roomforwild challenge card described many of the activities included in the box.
Opposite of Far Mask (Bee) $22.00 This mask is handmade with premium merina wool blend felt and eco-fi felt. All the materials are made in the USA and they can be hand washed. This is a very cute little mask and my 4 year old has buzzing all around the house.
Week 2: Read Room on the Broom and discuss how we need to make room for family, friends and animals alike. Your child will also build a broom craft.
Room on the Broom $5.09 This is an adorable and rhythmic story about a witch who keeps dropping items and meeting new friends. Not every children's book is as enjoyable for adults, but this one was a hit with the whole family. The story taught an important lesson of helping others and including everyone.
The witch and her cat are happily flying through the sky on a broomstick when the wind picks up and blows away the witch's hat, then her bow, and then her wand! Luckily, three helpful animals find the missing items, and all they want in return is a ride on the broom. But is there room on the broom for so many friends? And when disaster strikes, will they be able to save the witch from a hungry dragon?
This is a look inside the book.
Build A Broom Craft The information cards gave instructions to build this craft. The broom holds a treat and looks good at the same time.
Room with a Broom Finger Puppets (Free Bonus) This was a free item provided from the Room with a Broom website. You child can cut these out and recreate the story.
Week 3: Create or decorate your elephant. Once completed, take a photo and email it or post to Instagram with #elphie.
Elephant Activity from 96Elephants Your child can decorate the included elephant or create one from scratch using the decorations provided. There were crayons, glue and fun flair to use to decorate the elephant.
Week 4: Help save butterflies and bees. Plant your butterfly seeds and read Disappearing Acts.
Plant Seeds This butterfly paper is made with milkweed and wildflower seed. Plant the butterfly seeds where they will get partial to full sunlight. The paper part of the butterfly will recycle naturally as the seeds grow. The butterfly and bee figures can be used to help teach your child about the importance of bees and butterflies. My kids are rather scared of bees, so I have been working to explain why they are so useful.
Disappearing Acts: A Search-and-Find Book of Endangered Animals $11.70 This is a seek and find book with endangered animals. The picture look hand drawn and are beautifully done. The back of the book has a list of endangered species with facts about each one. My older son loves Science and animals, so he really enjoyed the glossary.
Disappearing Acts is a beautifully illustrated search-and-find book. Each page features a densely detailed landscape: rainforest, savannah, coral reef, and more. Within these landscapes are hiding threatened species such as the Adelie penguin, elephant, panda, and snow leopard, and children are invited to search the picture to find each one. Alongside each illustration run descriptions of the animals, their numbers, their habitats, and why they are endangered. At the back of the book an index of animals provides further context. Isabella Bunnell’s warm, intricate watercolors provide a delightful way to learn about our planet’s rich diversity and fragile ecosystems.
This is one of the seek and find pages.
The endangered species are listed by habitats.
Koala and Rawr Soaps Crystal Surprise Soap This soaps is beautiful and a special gift to the parent! My 7 year old loves crystals, so I have a feeling he is going to try to get this.
