Julep Maven July 2016 Review, SPF Expiration Issues + Free Box Coupons

The July 2016 Julep Collection was called “Into the Sea”. There was a new lip product, Lip Shade Sheer Lip Butter. Julep is $24.99/month or $19.99/month with a 3 month subscription. First Look.
There was a $10.00 coupon for a $20.00 purchase. There was also booklet about the new products in July boxes.
Lip Shade – Dahlia Sheer Lip Butter This is the newest Julep lip product on the market. There was a delay in delivering these this month, Once I received this, I (and many others) noticed the expiration date of 8/16 on the side of the tube. These lip butters have and spf of 30, that expires the end of August. The rest of the product is save, according to Julep. I called Julep to find out what they are doing about it. Julep is offering a replacement product or refund for anyone who contacts them, that received the lip butters. I chose the refund and received 2000 Jules.
I love the actual product. The product goes on sheer with a bit of color. It's moisturizing and feels great on the lips. I did select this in large part for the spf, so I was really disappointed that the spf expires so quickly. This is something that really needs to go back to development.
What it Does:
- Shea butter soothes and strengthens dry, chapped lips
- Broccoli seed oil forms a protective layer that locks in moisture
- Rosehip seed oil helps stimulate cell turnover and keeps lips smooth
- Black currant seed oil nourishes and softens lips from the inside out
- Available in nine sheer, flattering shades for a “your lips but better†look
Julep Lip Gloss – Delighted This is described as a Sheer Coral with Power Cell Complex. Julep lip glosses are my favorite Julep products. They have a sheet moisturizing formula that isn't sticky. This is a pretty pink color with a slight glittery finish.
Mallory Classic with a Twist This creme finish polish is described to be a Pink lotus crème. I love the color but the brush is a little off, so the polish applies a bit streaky.
These are swatches of the lip products: lip butter on top and lip gloss on the bottom.
There is always a bonus item in the box. This month, there was a fruity gummy slice. I gave this to my 7 year old.
Final Thought: This ended up not being such a great box. Over all, the lip butter is fabulous, but I really wish that spf would last. I am going to find a better spf lip balm to use with it. I need to get a new brush for my polish, which will be easy to do. One thing I love about Julep is their customer service. I always get a quick response to problems and never have to argue to get it made right. For fast responses, I prefer calling Julep directly, rather than email.
