Kiwi Crate May 2016 Review
The May 2016 Kiwi Crate was all about creating a Pinball Machine. Kiwi Crate is a fun activity and craft subscription box for kids 4-8. Crates are $19.95/month and filled with Explore magazine, along with featured crafts. You can add-on a sibling pack or upgrade and get a featured book each month with your box. Kiwi Crate is our family's first subscription box and it's one of my favorite subscription boxes for kids.

What's in the box? Every month you'll receive all the materials and inspiration for projects related to a theme such as music, gardening, dinosaurs or colors. Projects may include arts and crafts, science activities, imaginative play and more. We've hand selected and kid tested projects that are open-ended and encourage curiosity, exploration and creativity!
What ages is Kiwi Crate for? Ages 3-8 but older children can enjoy it too.
Can I skip? Yes – if you do not want to receive a crate for a period of time, you can pause your subscription for 1, 2 or 3 months. To pause, log into My Account page, click “Manage Subscription” next to the subscription that you'd like to pause and then click Pause. You will not be charged while your subscription is paused. Your subscription will automatically resume after the pause period is complete. Pause by 7:00 PM EST on the 4th of the month to avoid being billed for the next crate.
How do I cancel? You can cancel or skip from your account.

First Look
Explore Magazine always is packed with fun activities, cartoons, recipes and more.
Moving and Rolling There was a little lesson in physics. This two page spread discusses how balls move when they his fixed objects vs objects that ca move.
There were two different games in the magazine, a marble game and the dot game.
There was also a fun activity to make your own marble run.
The main project this month is a Pinball machine.
Inside the instruction manual was a full list of all the materials in the box.
There were several sets of small pieces needed for the pinball machine, so they were all organized on a sheet of paper and placed in little bags.
These coins go on the tray of pinball machine, so you can win points.
The pinball machine was made of plastic and foam pieces.
There was also backboards and a multi colored crayon.
Before making the backboard, there were some activities in the book to help prepare your child.
The instruction book broke down each part of the pinball machine.
There were several steps in the project, buy my husband and son had a great time doing them together.

Once all the pieces were assembled, there were playing tips.
The finished pinball machine can be customized to any configuration your child wants.
This is the finished pinball machine. You pull back the peg in the middle of the launcher and shoot the ball. The box came with several balls, so it's okay if one got lost.
Final Thought: This was one of the funnest Kiwi Crate projects that we have done. It took quite a bit of time to complete, but the end result turned out great. Both of my children have had fun playing with the pinball machine. My oldest has been rearranging the pegs, to change how difficult it is.
