GlobeIn has released full spoilers of their March 2016 Benefit Basket. The GlobeIn Benefit Basket is a great box for people who love the regular GlobeIn box, but want a bit less. The Benefit Basket contains one crafted good from a remarkable, remote artisan, all in a colorful, handwoven basket from their weaving collective in Oaxaca, Mexico. You will also get story of the artisan, their community, and how you are making an impact on their lives. The Benefit Basket is $19.95/month or $56.95 for 3 months, but you can get $7.00 off your 1 box of a 3 month subscription with the code TRYBENEFIT.
Here are the spoilers for March 2016
Each Benefit Basket will come with:
1) Elephant Journal by Mr. Ellie Pooh, Sri Lanka, (Retail Value $15).
The journals will come in green and blue colors.
2) GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket from Oaxaca, Mexico, (Retail Value $12).
Who ever heard of an artisan elephant? Well, they’re not quite artisans, but they do spend all day eating a strict (and large) vegetarian diet, which enables them to produce the raw materials Mr. Ellie Pooh uses to create paper products.
Of course, if any animal could be an artisan, the elephant might just be it. Elephants have the largest brain size among land mammals, and astonishing memory and cognition capabilities. They are even able to recognize themselves in the mirror!

In villages of north central India, woodcarving is a way of life with Muslim roots. And yet, many artisans such as Mohammad Afzal wish for their children to abandon the tradition for something more profitable.
Organizations like Matr Boomie that pay fair trade prices while investing in artisan health and wellness (such as by providing face masks to prevent dust inhalation) make it more likely that artisans will consider the work beneficial enough to pass on to their children.
