First Look
There was a welcome letter with Playitforward's address, email and phone number. They encourage your to contact them if you are ever unhappy with your box.
The back of the welcome letter had word search and a book recommendation to go with this month's activities. They also gave instructions to do the first activity, making “Love bug” valentines.
There was another sheet with more craft activities to do.
A sheet was included to show all three projects this month.
This is the Play if Forward Path. We stuck this month's sticker to the first paw.
Love bug Valentines: Your child uses glue to attach the paper to the cardstock. When everything is dry, you can glue the rubber bugs to the valentine's and pass them out to friends and family.
Here are the completed valentines. I didn't think the bugs would stay glued down, but they did.
DIY Picture Frame: This is the craft you can keep at home. Your child glues on the buttons and magnets, then attaches a picture.
T completed this project completely unassisted. There was a container of glue in the box for all the projects, though we ended up using some of ours too. 3 years olds are not very conservative with glue. This project kept my son's attention and was great for his fine motor skills.
This is the completed frame, we just have to pick a picture.
When your frame is done, you can use the gift bag and tissue paper to give this as a gift.
Mail a Paper Hug: This was the biggest project in the box and took the longest to complete. There was a large roll of paper included in this box. Your child lays on the paper and an adult traces their arms. I didn't take a picture of this, because I was too busy holding and tracing. One you are done tracing, you cut out the arms, glue together and make a hug. There was glitter sticker hearts and a pen to help decorate the hug.
T used crayons to add more color to his hug.
The completed hug. The project came with a felt envelope for the hug and a while mailing envelope, so you can mail this someone. If you don't have anyone to mail this too, you can call a local children's hospital and send it there for a child.
Final Thought: My children love crafting and this box was a hit with out family. We are deciding what special people are going to get all the crafts completed this month. I love that there is subscription designed to help children think about giving back. Playitforward Kids sent a really fun box and passed on such a positive message to my children.
