Koala Crate February 2016 Review
Koala Crate is a subscription for 3-4 year olds. Boxes are $19.95 and filled with a fun magazine and crafts. Koala Crate has a partnership with Highlights magazine, so there are fun articles and activities included in the box. My 3-year-old gets Koala Crate and he loves that he can do crafts just like his older brother. There are not many subscriptions that are appropriate for 3 year olds.

First Look. The theme for February is “Transportation”.
Koala Crate partners with Highlights Magazine to create Imagine Magazine. The magazine is filled with stories and games, similar to Highlights magazine.
This month's theme was “transportation”, perfect for a 3 year old boy.
Each activity has a key to let parents know how messy it is, how much grownup involvement is needed and what skills the child will learn.
Tire Track Paining (Messiness: Medium, Grownup Involvement: Medium) For this activity, you child has special paper that reacts to water, a truck and a pan. Your child runs the truck through the water, then paints on the paper.
There was a paintbrush included too, so you could paint with the truck or brush. The paper was actually made of fabric and is 100% reusable.
T loved painting with the truck and making tire tracks all over the paper.
Rolling Ramp (Messiness: Low, Grownup Involvement: Low) This was the easiest project to make, you just adjust the ramp in the different grooves.
All you need is the wooden truck and ramp,
Washi tape was included in the box, so you could mark where your truck stops. We did experiments to see where the ramp should be adjusted, to get the car to go the furthest. T played with this for a long time, while I help L with his Kiwi Crate.
This is the finished ramp. See, super easy!
City Streats (Messiness: Low, Grownup Involvement: Medium) To complete the roadway/transportation theme, your child can make street signed with the punch out papers and wooden blocks. You can also use the washi tape to make city streets.
The project was very easy. Just use the sticky foam to stick the paper signs to the wooden blocks,
T elected to use the signs as bowling pins with his ramp. He might not drive till he is 18!

Final Thought: This was a fantastic month. T has played with this month's projects and toys several times since we first completed the crate. This is what I love about Kiwi Crate. Children don't just make some art project to hang on the wall. 90% of all projects are interactive and can be used again as toys.
