The Kiwi Crate box was a bit different this month. The them of the box was printed on the side of the box.
First Look. The theme for February is “Race Day”.
Explore Magazine always is packed with fun activities, cartoons, recipes and more.
There was an activity to make a car without wheels, using a balloon, and the Kiwi Crate box.
Instead of a fold out paper with directions, there was a thick guide with all the directions.
There were some introductory remarks about this months products, along with a full list of what was included in the box. The two projects this month are: Airbrush Art and Race Cars.
Airbrush Art (Messiness: Medium. Grownup Involvement: High: This activity uses a airbrush and markers to create fun patterns with stencils.
The Supplies: The was washi tape, stencils, markers and the airbrush included for this project.
You put the marker in the airbrush and squeeze.
After L practiced on some paper, L used the stencils to decorate the car parts. The airbrush was easy to use, but it making the checkered pattern gave L a bit of a hand cramp. I ended up doing some of the stencils, but it was fun.
After decorating the car parts, your child puts together the car. There was actually 6 pages of instructions, but my 6 year old was able to build both cars without help.
Working on the cars.
The finished cars turned out great. The only part I did, was add the rubber bands to the straws and balloons.
Final Thought: I think this was L's favorite Kiwi Crate thus far. The cars hold up really well and they have been through hours of play already. After subscribing for three years, Kiwi Crate is still impressing me with new, fun ideas and boxes.
