When you sign up, you fill out a short profile and Home Chef will give you recommendations, although you can select any meal you wish. Shipping is free for orders over $40.00 and you can skip any week you want. You can also select the day your box is delivered (Tues-Fri).
The Details:

What's in the box? Each box comes with your selected meals, all packaged so your food stays fresh.
Note: We ordered the two plate box, so each meal made two meals. There is so much food, there is always enough to share with our two small children. If you have older kids (mine are 3 and 6), you probably want the 4 plate box.
Home Chef ships by Fed Ex and ships in a big insulated box.
First Look. The recipe cards are always on top and the food in packed in thick insulated padding.
All the food is packed in clear bags and sealed with labels.
The front of the recipe card lists how long it takes to prepare, how hard the recipe is and how quickly you should make the meal.
The back of the information card has detailed instructions and a list of all the ingredients you need. The only ingredient I have ever had to have is olive oil. The instructions are super easy to follow and I have need had a problem with them.
Sherry Wine Demi-Glace Flat-Iron Stead with Whipped Potatoes and Balsamic Brussels Sprouts: This meal takes 35 minutes to prepare, is an easy recipe and best cooked in 5 days.
This is one of two plates.
This was a fantastic meal. I actually almost didn't select it, because I hate Brussels sprouts, but they turned out great. I generally find Brussels sprouts bitter, but these had a toasted flavor and I think the Parmesan cheese helped balance the bitter flavor. They were so good, we almost went to the store, so we could make more. The steak and potatoes were also tasty, but the Brussels sprouts were the hit of the meal.
Dim Sum Pork Dumplings with Spicy Sesame Spinach and Rice This meal takes 50 minutes to prepare, is an expert recipe and best cooked in 5 days. This also had a mild taste.
This is one of two plates.
I had never had dim sum pork dumplings before, so I decided to branch out and try it. This took some time to prepare, but the end result was worth it. The dumplings were easy to chew and had a slight sweet taste. We decided not to make the sauce, since my husband and children don't like spicy foods. This recipe made so many dumplings, we had more than enough for four people.
Final Thought: This is our family's favorite subscription. The portions are huge and there is always enough for our family of four, granted our children are 6 and 3. We have never been disappointed with Home Chef. The value, quality and price are all fantastic. If you want to try Home Chef, use this link to save $30.00 on your 1st box.
