I couldn't wait to get my January GlobeIn Benefit Basket. The GlobeIn Benefit Basket is an artisan subscription box and a great box for people who love the regular GlobeIn box, but want a bit less. The Benefit Basket contains one crafted good from a remarkable, remote artisan, all in a colorful, handwoven basket from their weaving collective in Oaxaca, Mexico. You will also get story of the artisan, their community, and how you are making an impact on their lives. The benefit basket ships in the same box as the regular GlobeIn Box.
The GlobeIn Benefit Basket for January 2016 features the Atlas Pestemal Bath Towel from Turkey.
The basket comes with a fold out card about the product and a smaller card about the artist.
Handwoven Basket from Dona Selerina Garcia (Mexico) $12.00 These baskets are handwoven in mexico and are the best toy storage containers. Perfect for Shopkins, toy cars, playsets or kitchen tools, this basket can be used for a number of things.
The towel was wrapped up very small and tucked in this basket!
Pestemal Bath Towel (Denizil, Turkey) $25.00 I am really excited that this was in the Benefit Basket, because now I have two! This is a large towel (39 x 67 in), but thin so it absorbs water well and dries quickly. This is a great towel to take to the gym! It's made in Turkey by Guler Sucu and her husband. Guler's husband weaves the towel, while she creates the intricate fringe on the bottom of the towel. Their employment through Atlas lets them pay for the cost of running their home.
Final Thought: This box had a total value of $37.00! Even if you don't count the value of the basket (which I love), the towel itself is still worth more than the cost of the box. The January 2016 Benefit Basket now only had a great value, but the towel is so useful to me. We don't have much space to store towels, so I love that this rolls up so small.
