The Austin BatBox September 2015 Review

The Austin BatBox September 2015 Review

Austin BatBox is a subscription box that sends artisan and indie products from Austin, Tx in their monthly boxes.  Their name is derived from the large colony of bats that live in Austin,  I have a good friend that lives in Austin under the Congress Ave Bridge.  I have been able to see the bats at night, and it is something to see.  There are so many bats, they even show up on radar!  Austin BatBox is $29.99 a month and you do have to pay shipping.

The Details:

Cost: $29,99/month, $86.99/3 months, $167.99/6 months

What's in the box? When you sign up for The Austin BatBox, you will receive 4-5 hand selected items from Austin, Texas every month!

When am I billed?  Every 30 days

Austin BatBox ships in a white box with their logo sticker on the side of the box.

First Look

The September Box was themed “Bat to School”.

There was an information card with links to each of the products.

Julian Acosta High 5 EP USB/ Bottle Opener

Julian Acosta High 5 EP USB/ Bottle Opener $8.99 This USB contains 6 mp3s from Julian Acosta and doubles as a bottle opener.  You can add you own files too.  I was able to get the computer to recognize this on my mac, but not on my pc.  Additionally, the player got really hot while it was plugged in to my computer.  I am a bit nervous about using it as a USB, but it works fine as a can opener.

BatBox Exclusive: Bat to School Clips by Bombshell Kitty

BatBox Exclusive: Bat to School Clips by Bombshell Kitty $15.00 est.  Since these are an exclusive, I had to estimate the value based on the other items in the store.  These two clips are connected by a chain in the back.  These are great for Halloween, which is how I will use them.

High Brew Coffee Black and Bold

High Brew Coffee Black and Bold $2.89 This is 100% Arabica coffee brewed and canned at only 20 calories.  It contains natural caffeine and is dairy free.

High Brew Coffee Lip Moisturizer

High Brew Coffee Lip Moisturizer $2.00 est This lip balm in Mexican Vanilla moisturizes dry lips.  Oddly, it says 60 calories on the side, which is more than the drink.  Do you eat lip balm?

UT Co-Op Striped Tote

UT Co-Op Striped Tote $1.67 This bag is made of recycled materials and till tote anything from books to clothes.  There was also a booklet with a 20% off discount.

Tyler's Austin, Tx Koozie

Tyler's Austin, Tx Koozie $4.99 Tyler's is a clothing company for men, women and youth.  This hot pink koozie is fun and will keep your drink cold.

The Swag

The Swag:  Every box contains a bag of swag.  There were a few stickers, a Longhorn game schedule magnet, and a pen.

Final Thought: The total value of this box was $35.54. I liked the sweater clips the most and will wear them for Halloween.  I was really excited about the USB, but I was disappointed that I couldn't get it to work.  While the bag and koozie are nice, I would have preferred another nicer item, rather than more promotional type items.  If you want to try Austin BatBox, you can check them out here and use the coupon BOXMOM15 to save 15% on your subscription.
