First Look
The information card included detailed descriptions about each sauce and recommended foods to try it on.
33 Squirts of Hot Sauce (squirts, dashes and splashes too): This notebook is included in the 1st box to document your taste impressions of 33 sauces. The little red peppers on the cover are made with Barrel-Aged Louisiana Red Pepper Sauce.
Like coffee, there is a specific scale and flavor wheel, in which to taste hot sauces. If you are new to recording your taste notes, there are instructions at the beginning of the book.
Palo Alto Fire Fighters Pepper Sauce: There were three sample packets of pepper sauce, that is made with red jalapeno and hananero peppers.
Born to Hula Ghost of Ancho This sauce is made with Bhut Jolokia peppers “ghost peppers”, so it is very hot. There is a sweet/smokey flavor that helps balance out the heat. This sauce also won the 2014 Fiery Food Challenge.
Frankie V's Spooky White Hot Sauce: This sauce is made with white and orange habaneros, mustard, ginger, garlic, onions and habanero vinegar. This is best for guacamole, burritos, quesadillas, soup or even cocktails.
This box is a great introduction to some great hot sauces!
Box 2
I was also sent the second box for review. The second box will be based on the hot sauce monthly box that month.
First Look
As previously mentioned, the boxes after the introductory box contains 3 hot sauces.
Friendly Fire Guava + Habanero: I tried this on hot wings and it was fantastic. It has a nice heat with a sweet flavor. It even won the Screaming MI Mi Award for “Best Product of 2014”.
Elijah's Extreme Ghost Pepper Sauce: This sauce was inspired by a 6 year old boy's desire to be the youngest to eat the World's Hottest Pepper. The boy and his father started a hot sauce company and later developed sauce. Made with ghost and habanero peppers, this really brings the heat. A little goes a long way and it's great for adding flavor to eggs, chili, soup, or chicken.
Howler Monkey Sauce Amarillo: This is a Caribbean style sauce, made with yellow and red scotch bonnets, garlic, onions and other spices. Try this on steak, fish or BBQ pork.
Tobasco Mexica's Tabanero Hot Sauce Picante Like the intro box, there were two samples of another hot sauce to try. This one is made with Habanero peppers, carrots, onions, key lime juice, agave nectar, garlic and salt.
This box had a nice selection of sauces with different temperatures. The guava sauce was my favorite.
