My children love My Pretend Place, especially their dress up box. My Pretend Place is a subscription box for children 3-8, that encourages pretend, dress-up, learning and imagination. My Pretend Place‘s mission is to get children crafting, dressing up, pretending and using their imaginations! There are two boxes, a dress up box and a DIY Projects Subscription box. The Dress Up box is $50.00 every 3 month (quarterly) and comes in boy, girl or gender neutral. Each box will contain dress-up costumes, activities or crafts, and other pretend play inspiration. Every three months, you get a big box of goodies and the two off months, you get free bonus materials.
I was sent the Boy Dress Up for July 2015. The theme for Firefighter!
This month's My Pretend Place Box was simply Huge.
First Look
Inside the envelope was three stickers and a magnet, so your child can turn the box into a suitcase. We store all out dress up boxes in these boxes, it's easy for the kids to just grab and play. The card and magnet are for adults.
A letter from Chief Bernie P Ventshun welcomes your child to Engine house Number 9. Every dress up box includes a cute letter to your child.
Melissa and Doug Firefighter Outfit: Oh my, I was so excited for this box. We actually already have this outfit, but it's my 6 year olds' and my 3-year-old loves playing firefighter too. I am so glad to have two. This jacket has a badge, hat, fire extinguisher, bull horn (with real working sounds) and a name badge. Of all the Melissa and Doug dress up outfits, this is my favorite one. It is really well made and ours still looks practically new.
Fire Power Fire Hose: By far, this was my children's favorite item in the box. You pour water in the backpack and it really squirts water! Keep reading to see it in action.
Firetruck Project: The was a wooden firetruck with red/black paint and a paintbrush. Your child can paint an customize their own firetruck.
L really wanted to paint the firetruck, so T and I did another activity.
The finished truck.
Big Frank's Fire Truck: This book features Frank and his job as a firefighter. We read at nap time and bed time, so we are always happy to get new books.
Here is a look inside the book.
My kids couldn't wait to get outside and play. They had a race to see who got their shoes on first. You pump the handle and water sprays out. The boys had fun and I got my plants watered, they even sprayed themselves.
Boys having a blast.
T grabbed his bullhorn and made sure his older brother was doing it correctly.
Final Thought: This was a fantastic box from My Pretend Place. While I didn't calculate the retail price, you can see my kids really loved the box, which is the most important thing anyway. I am such a fan of Melissa and Doug, their products are fantastic, especially the dress up outfits. I actually haven't bought a Halloween costume in years, thanks to my kids dress up outfits. The box had an outfit, backpack, tools, book, and craft. My kids loved it!
