Mantry April 2015 Review
I have always wanted to check out Mantry, so I was really thrilled when Mantry asked me to review their box! Mantry is a subscription box for men. Mantry is called “the man's pantry” and is $75.00/month. Mantry ships all their monthly boxes in wooden crates. Each box contains six of the top food products in the United States. Everything is made in the United States, including the crate.

Mantry shipped by USPS and came in a heavy box.
Everything came in a wooden crate, which I think is one of the coolest things about this subscription.
First Look. On top, there was a letter about Mantry and there was also an information guide.
Instead of an information card, Mantry sends a full color information booklet. The theme for this month is “Taco Truck”. Our family loves tacos, so I was looking forward to seeing what was in the box.

Hernan Mole Poblano $8.99 This is made with 28 different chilies, along with nuts, chocolate, raisins, and piloncillo. It was really interesting to learn that the first mole sauce was said to be invented by a group of Mexican nuns, in an effort to feed a visiting archbishop. This was a bit hard to eat but it taste like mole sauce I have had before.

Deano’s Jalapeños Jalapeño Chips $4.49 Did someone say chips? These are made in Vermont and are a chip form of nachos and Jalapeños. You can eat these with the mole or use it as a topping for a breakfast taco (eggs and fried sweet potatoes). These had a nice flavor, but they pack a pretty nice spice.
Pernicious Pickling Co. Pickled Red Onions $8.00 My husband and I couldn't wait to try these out. These onions are a mix of sweet and sour flavors and I think they would go great with fajitas. These have a fantastic flavor and the apple cider vinegar really makes these onions taste great.

Savage Jerky Company Mojo Jerky $7.99 This beef jerky is tasty with just a hint of lime and cilantro. Unlike other jerky, this jerky was really tender and had more of a sweet/tangy taste, instead of a salty taste. My husband loves beef jerky, so this was a great addition to the box.
Old Ranch Dog Mexican Hot Chocolate Walnuts $8.99 These walnuts are made in California on a family owned ranch. These walnuts are seasoned with cinnamon, cocoa, and cayenne. The ranch even grows, dries and grinds the peppers themselves. These really didn't have much of a spice and tasted like cinnamon and chocolate covered walnuts, YUM!.
Yellowbird Habanero Sauce $4.00 My husband can't handle spicy foods. Mantry says this is a much milder pepper than the Ghost Chili, but wow, this is hot! You can use this on tacos or make a michelada. I am going to try this in my ground beef, when I make tacos, but only a little bit.
Final Thought: The total value of this box was $42.46. While I loved the food selections in this box, the value is really low. I did think the crate was really cool and I loved the selection of food in the box. If you want to check out Mantry, use this link.
