First Look
There is an information card that tells you about the candy and the company it comes from. On the back, there is also calorie and nutrition information for all the candy in the box.
Primrose Fruit Chews: These look similar to salt water taffy, but taste more like a starburst. This company has been around since 1928. The flavors are green apple, strawberry, grape, banana, and orange.
The Taste: My husband, 6-year-old and I all loved these. My 3-year-old hasn't eaten these yet, but they are a bit big and chewy for him.
Vidal Watermelon Slices: This company was founded over 50 years ago in the Spanish town of Molina de Segura. These are gummy watermelon slices that are covered in sugar and have a bit of a tart taste.
The Taste: My 6-year-old and I loved these. I love the watermelon flavor and each piece is so big, you don't need too many to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Sour Power Strawberry Belts: This are an old favorite and are found in many candy shops. They remind me of Fruit by the Foot, only covered in sugar.
The Taste: These are sour, but not too sour. Each piece is several inches long, so like the watermelon slices, you really only need one or two. My whole family loved these.
IBC Root Beer Barrels: These were first made in 1919 as a treat instead of alcohol during prohibition. My 6-year-old and husband both love root beer and these were a hit.
The Taste: My husband took about 4 of them during my unboxing video. This was my husband's favorite candy. He said they tasted just like IBC Root Beer.
Newfangled Confections Original Frittle: This is made in Indianapolis, Indiana and the company prides itself or making “updated Grandma candies”.
The Taste: My 6-year-old is allergic to peanuts, so we have to keep this put up out of reach. This was really good though, and it has a really natural, sweet peanut taste. This was my favorite peanut brittle. It is crunchy, but not too hard where you will break a tooth.
Final Thought: I didn't do a cost breakdown for this box, but I thought the $27.99 price was reasonable, plus there is a $10.00 coupon you can use. My family loved everything in the box, and it will last the full month, if not more. This would make a great gift too.
