Okashi Connection is a Japanese snack box that ships worldwide for $22.00/month. Each box is packed with about a pound of candy. Okashi Connection sends an information sheet, but they also have a blog. Each month, you are sent the password, so you can check out all the snacks and read in-depth descriptions. This month, Okashi Connection let subscribers know about Hanami. Hanami means “flower viewing” and during the month of April, it is the custom for Japanese to enjoy the beauty of Japan. Many people enjoy outdoor picnics during this time.

First Look: Okashi Connection always includes a general information sheet, but they post more detailed descriptions online.
Mini Country Ma’am Vanilla Cookies: These are soft chocolate chip cookies that are packed with chocolate chips. These are similar to Soft Batch chocolate chip cookies, only with more chocolate
Apple and Carrot Kit-Kats: While America has one flavor of Kit Kat, Japan has tons of different flavors. These Kit Kats are carrot and apple flavor. Honestly, I couldn't taste the carrot, only the apple. They tasted like a juicy apple mixed with a cookie. It might sound weird, but these were really good.
Puchi-Puchi Fortune Ramune: These are tiny little candies with a sugar shell and the middle tastes like bubble gum (but's not gum). My kids loved these!
Frozen Choco Biscuits: These are vanilla cookies with chocolate on one side. Each cookie also features Anna, Elsa or Olaf. These were fantastic and tasted similar to fudge stripe cookies.
Cider Cotton Candy: Cider has a club soda taste to me. This cotton candy is crunchier and thicker than other cotton candy I have had, but it was really good.
Ottotto Salty Crackers: These were my favorite snack in the box. They are tiny sea animal crackers that are hollow and salty. These are a similar type of snack as Goldfish Crackers, but much better. I want to find more of these!
Maken Gumi Energy Drink: This is a gummie treat that tastes like lemon-lime Gatorade. I am not a huge fan, but my kids thought it was awesome.
O-Sushi-ya-San Gumi: This gummie kit lets you or your child make sushi from gummie candy. These gummies taste like regular fruit gummies, but they are fun to play with.
Onion Salad Umaibo and Chicken Curry Umaibo: We haven't tried the Chicken Curry Umaibo yet, but the Onion Salad was tasty. Onion Salad really packs a strong onion flavor, so have a breath mint hand, after eat this. Umaibo is a puffy corn snack that comes in a large variety of flavors.
Final Thought: Every month, Okashi Connection packs a huge box of snacks, that is not only tasty, but completely different from the month before. This month was one of my favorite months. All the snacks were fantastic, especially the Ottotto Salty Crackers. At $22.00, with free shipping, Okashi Connection is a fantastic value.
