Kiwi Crate comes in a little green box that looks like a crate.
First Look. The theme for February is “Play Sports”. The two main crafts for the month are “My Basketball Game” and “My Pom-Pom Soccer”.
The back of the information card has Steve the Kiwi Bird and a little friend. Your child can color/cut out each one and play with them in the box. There is also a sticker to add to your child's poster. When you subscribe, your first box will have a poster, for your child to put all their stickers.
Every box includes Explore Magazine. This book is filled with cartoons, games and activities.
This month's magazine had the following activities:
- Do it Yourself: My Golden Trophy
- Try For Yourself: Tennis Ball Experiment
- Do It Yourself: My Football Game
The end of the magazine had a megaphone to cut out and tape together.
Each activity comes with an instruction booklet. The booklet tells you how messy it is and the level of grownup involvement.
My Pom-Pom soccer has low messiness scale and a medium grownup involvement.
The booklet unfolds to list step by step instructions. There are full color photos of each step, so your child can follow instructions, even before they can read.
Kiwi Crate includes everything you need to complete the craft.
L had to use lots of sticky foam in the project. L had to assemble the goals and the field.
This is the finished soccer game. You blow through the straw and move the ball around. This was really fun, and I even played with it after L went to bed.
My Basketball Game is rated high on the messiness scale and medium on the grownup involvement.
There was a large list of supplies needed for this craft. Kiwi Crate provides everything you need for the activity. You only need paper to protect your work space and scrap paper.
Once again, the directions were easy for L to follow.
L was really excited to make this project. i love there was a nice big headboard.
To make the net, your child made a pattern and stamped it on fabric.
Once you have the pattern, your child pants it with blue paint.
The activity included suction cups, so you can stick it on the window.
This is the finished basketball goal and ball. This is super fun and it is on our window in the play area.
Final Thought: This was a really fun box and I like that both projects are games that can be played again and again. The basketball is L's favorite, because he can throw a ball in the house. I love that the basketball is made so sturdy. If you want to try Kiwi Crate, click HERE and use the code SHARE10 to save $10.00 on your first month.
