Okashi Connection September 2014 Review
Okashi Connection, sent me this box to review. I loved their last box, so I was excited when I got September's box in the mail. They are a new Japanese candy subscription box, that ships worldwide! There is no shipping charge and boxes are $22.00! Okashi Connection sends a big box with about a pound of Japanese candy and snacks inside. They try to send items that are difficult or impossible to get outside of Japan and seasonal items. They also include some information about the candy, as well as a video, hosted by Karin (13) and Haruka (11), with their opinions and instructions on how to make / eat the items.

What's in the box? We send a size 60 box with around a pound (between 400-600 grams) of Japanese candy and snacks. We strive to include things that are difficult or impossible to get outside of Japan and seasonal items. We also include some information about the candy, as well as a video, hosted by Karin (13) and Haruka (11), with their opinions and instructions on how to make / eat the items.
When am I charged? Your card will be charged on the 30th (or last day) of the month.
When does my box ship? Boxes will be shipped within the next week after being charged, and they should arrive at your door within 1-3 weeks after that.

First Look
Information Card: Okashi Connection includes a paper with pictures of everything in the box, and a key to what they are. I can't express how helpful this is for me. This makes identifying the treats so much easier. In addition to the paper information sheet, Okashi Connection gives subscribers access to a special webpage. The page contains pictures and descriptions to each item.
Fizzy Cola Wata Gum: This has the consistency of cotton candy and has an intense flavor. This is cola flavored and has some fizzy action. If you leave it on your tongue, it turns into gum.
Calpis Tablets: These are little drink tablets that you put in water. Calpis is an uncarbinated soft drink from Calpis. I haven't tried this, but it looks fun.
Petit 24 Cookies: I think this was a bonus gift, as it wasn't listed on the information card. These are sweet rice cake cookies.
Umaibo: This is a really thick crunchy puffy cheeto type snack. From left to right: Beef Tongue, Natto, and Sweet Rusk.
Beef Tongue: This was a bit weird for C and I. It had a strong artificial beef flavor that wasn't pleasant.
Natto: This tasted pretty good, and had a cheesy spicy flavor. I googled Natto and apparently it's fetid fermented soybeans. The really sounds gross, but it was still good.
Sweet Rusk: This is very sweet flavored and has a vanilla flavor to it.
Onion Taro: This are onion cheese balls. I have a large love of junk food and this tasted great.
Genji Pie: These are flaky, sugar cookies. These were really good. I will admit, I ate most of the package before I realized I didn't take a picture. I would buy these in a store.
Boubon Everyburger Dark Chocolate Gummi: These are dark chocolate flavored cookies. These were really good and my husband and I liked them.
Pretz: Pretz are little cracker sticks in different flavors. This is the green tea flavored. I am not a tea person but green tea candy is good.
Fried Potato: The writting on this package says “American Taste”. These are fried potato sticks, similar to the ones you get in the can here in the USA. This have a big puffier texture though. These were really good.
Strawberry Pakkuncho These are like Hello Panda and they have really cute characters on them. There was Prince Phillip, Lilo, Pooh Bear, and more.
Final Thought: This was a really nice box. I like the variety of snacks in the box. The chocolate bugers, Onion Taro, Fizzy Cola Wata Gum and fried potato snacks were my favorite. I love trying new snack foods, and Okashi Connection sends a great variety of Japanese snacks. Okashi Connections is only $22.00 a month and it ships worldwide (free shipping).
