M is for Monster Review and Discount Code.

M is for Monster was founded by a mom, that got tired of pinning, prepping and shopping for supplies, so she could do fun and educational activities with her children.  She found it difficult, to complete all the prep work, and still have time to do the projects.  She thought there might be other moms like her out there, and started M is for Monster.

If you read my website regularly, you know I have 2 boys: L (Age 4) and T (age 18 months).  L is full of energy, and I am always looking for exciting and fun things to do together.  I found out about M is for Monster, and was really excited when they sent me a box to review.  M is for Monster is a box of weekly educational activities for your child.  One of the things I love about M is for Monster, is the box is designed to last a month.  There are 4 weeks of activities, with different themes for each week.  There are toddler boxes for children 2-3 and preschool boxes for ages 4-5.

The Details
Cost: $32.95 for 1 month.  (3 and 6 month plans also available
What's in the box? Each month will be different. You will get four weekly themes with 2 to 3 projects for each theme. You will also get the glue, crayons, markers, paint and all the other supplies needed for that month.  (Scissors are not included, as they may be scary for children)
Toddler Boxes:  focuses on uppercase letters, numbers 1-10 and basic shapes. Other skills will be introduced from time to time, but this is a basic layout.
Preschool Boxes: focuses on lowercase, numbers 1-20 and basic shapes. More complex activities for children with longer attention spans are introduced here. Again, other skills will be introduced from time to time as this is only a basic layout.

All Wrapped Up
I liked that everything was all wrapped up nicely
First Look
I was surprised by my first look.  There was TONS of goodies in the box
Information Card
In the bottom of the box, there was a detailed list of activities.  The list was divided into 4 weeks.
These are the weekly themes this month: Week 1: Leaves, Week 2: Tractors, Week 3: Camping, Week 4: Monster.  Each project tells you what your child will be doing and what packet you will need.
Week 1: Leaves
The first project is leaf trees.  Your child sticks the correct number of leaves to the corresponding trees.  The trees are numbered 7-12.  The second project was tracing the word leaf on the leaf card.  The third project was to match the upper and lower case letters of the word leaf.  The last activity is to use tacky glue to glue leaves to a wreath.
Week 2: Tractors
The first project is to make a letter T tractor with the packet enclosed.  The second project is tractor color matching.  You cut apart the tractor/color words and your child matches the correct colored tractor, with the right color word.  You cut apart the number/dot cards and your child matches them back up.
Week 3: Camping
The first project is campfire art.  Your child glues sticks and tears paper for flames.  You then talk to your child about what a fire can do (cook food, keep you warm etc).  The second project is a campfire sticker book.  Your child uses the stickers and places them where ever they want.  I will be bringing this, on an upcoming vacation.  The last project of the week is an animal critter mask.  Your child makes a raccoon mask with the instructions.  You then talk with your child about what animals you may see camping, and why they come out a night.
Week 4: Monster
The first project is to place the correct number of eyes on each monster (1-6).  The next project is a monster/color matching game.  The last project is a monster treat box.  You child makes a scary or cute monster treat box.  I didn't get the treat box in my box, but customer service responded super fast, and is sending it right out.
L's Turn for Fun.  He worked on week 1.
Tree/leaf Project
L had a great time matching up the correct number of leaves to the correct trees.  I found out, he knows more numbers, than I thought.  I like that he worked on counting, number recognition and fine motor skills, all while having fun
Word Tracing
This was a good exercise for L.  He can trace works quite well, and is working on writing letters by himself.   Yes, I have a little left-handed boy
Leaf Wreath
L loves this.   L did a great job gluing all the leaves on the wreath.  I can't wait to hang it on my door.  M is for Monster also included a ribbon to hang in up.
Finished Wreath
It is still drying, but it turned out beautiful
Number Wreaths
L was very proud of his trees, and wanted them all on the refrigerator.  I think we are going to put them on our cabinets, as our refrigerator isn't that big.
Leaf Word
There was so much stuff in this box.  I had to stand on a chair to get it all in one picture.

Final Thought: This is a fantastic box!  There are 13 projects in this box, all for $32.95.  If you subscribe to a 6 month subscription, your monthly cost drops to $31.23.  I love that there were so many activities in the box and they all had educational value.  I am not a natural teacher.  It is hard to come up with educational activities to do with L.  L and I had a blast doing these projects together.  I loved seeing L have fun and learn at the same time.  This box is a great value for your money.  In addition, the customer service has been outstanding.  I love companies that respond quickly.  If you are interested in signing up for M is for Monster, use the code “submom” to save 10% on your subscription.

Stay Tuned:  Later this month, the United Box Bloggers will be bringing you a 3 month giveaway for M is for Monster!
